Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
gnome-power-manager 2.28.1-0ubuntu1
Ubuntu 9.10
The default menu of g-p-m is reductive (and that's a designer's choice) to the point that it's dumb (designer's mistake).
The brightness control bar is present for ac condition, I can actually set my pc to NOT have maximum brightness when on ac. USELESS for 99% of population. But not for when the pc is on battery power, that is stuck on 50% reduction unless you tinker with gconf-editor.
This is plain stupid. The control bar should be absent for ac and present for battery, where some people want brightness above 50% or below if their eyes can handle it, for battery power saving issues.
