Brightness not restored after resume from suspend

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

1. The brightness is at the max level
2. I suspend my laptop
3. After resuming, the brightness is set to the lowest level

This happens while my laptop always stays on AC power. This is with Ubuntu 9.10.

I have the exact same behaviour on my Dell Inspiron 9400 after a clean install of Ubuntu 9.10. This works fine on the same laptop under Ubuntu 8.10. Let me know if you want me to attach any logfiles.
