This fixed the problem for me (running 2.6.31-15-generic on Karmic)
Run gconf-editor and go to
/ --> apps --> gnome-power-manager --> actions
and uncheck the box labeled "event_
This option is described to be:
"If the battery lid close event should occur (for example 'Suspend when lid closed on battery') when the lid is previously shut and the AC power disconnected at a later time."

I can confirm that Kenneth's workaround (comment #3) works for me too.

I too can cofirm that Kenneth's workaround in comment #3 works and makes the problem go away.

Hi all,
I was wondering if we should mark this bug as a duplicate of bug #473876. If so, I'd encourage you to do it, and follow all comments on this one.
Thanks in advance.

This started affecting my MSI Wind U120 netbook after the update to version 10.10.
