Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

AC power is connected and I just close my laptop lid and after I open it the brightness is in power saving mode and fn+brightness up doesn't work too, the only way to turn brightness up is to use brightness panel applet.

I noticed this bug only on ubuntu karmic koala.

Brightness-Applet doesn't work for me. Screen stays on low brightness until I reboot.

This is on a HP dv4-1120us laptop.

If I suspend the laptop without closing the lid, brightness is correct when resumed. If laptop is suspended and lid is closed, screen is a minimum brightness. I go to Power Manager, the applet indicates the brightness is at 100%. If I move the brightness slider bar, the screen returns to desired brightness level.
