Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Triggering suspend and hibernate used to be possible by left-clicking the tray icon and left-clicking the respective item in the upcoming menu. No such menu anymore in Karmic. gnome-power-cmd script has been removed and gives this, if a copy of it is used, when running gnome-power-manager:

Suspending / Hibernating
Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.PowerManagement was not provided by any .service files
Failed

It works fine with xfce4-power-manager.

Confirmed.
About gnome-power-cmd; it's not included by upstream anymore. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+question/85949

Jarno, please could you check if this issue is still occurring under latest release included in Ubuntu Maverick? Thanks.

Xubuntu has used xfce4-power-manager since Lucid. In Ubuntu you can select suspend and hibernate in the quit menu. I don't know, if you can use gnome-power-manager with Xubuntu anymore.
