Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Right now, the gnome-power-manager tool has very few options for users to change. I think that the gnome-power-manager would be much more useful if it included support for some of these features.
1. Support for power schemes
If gnome-power-manager had power themes, aka "On battery" "On AC" and also user defined ones, that would be extremely useful. For example, if you're playing music, you define your music scheme to turn off the screensaver, never go into standby, and dim the display to zero, that would be so much more effective than having to manually change all those things everytime you wanted to listen to music.
2. Support for specific screensaver settings.
I alluded to this in the first point. It would be extremely useful to have scheme specific screensaver settings for the power-manager. I also think it would be great if these settings were very user customizable. For example, on low power, you might only want the screen to blank, or use a low power screensaver instead of the one you might use on ac power. Also, you might screensaving totally disabled for "Vdeo mode" or something like that.
3. Configuration for cpu throttle (if supported).
If a computer has the ability to throttle cpu, a user should be able to specifically configure it in gnome-power-manager. That would also be on a specific scheme basis.
4. More specific brightness control.
The brightness should be able to be specified directly for each scheme. Also how long to wait before turning the backlight off entirely.

Well, so there it is. I really like gnome and I think it has the potential to be very powerful and useful. In my opinion, a great example of a very useful power manager is the kpowersave utility from KDE 3.5. If these features are added, I will be extremely happy. Thnak you.

xax00, Please could you check if one of those behaviours are still valid in latest release included in Ubuntu Maverick? Thanks
