Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same issue with 32-bit Ubuntu 10.10 on Acer Aspire 5100 (AMD Turion x2 & Radeon 200M). Screen goes blank but the backlight never turns off.

Command "xset dpms force off" works fine but the power manager just can't turn off the backlight no matter what settings I've tried. I've posted a thread on ubuntu forums about this too: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1605571
