Bug Description

I have a HP dv8000 with a Core Duo processor and I'm running Dapper. If I run for a while, it'll just die when the battery gets too low. I have "When battery power is critical" set to "Shutdown".

Me too, on a Zepto Znote 4200. I have also "When battery power is critical" set to "Shutdown", but it doesn't work.

You probably have buggy batteries that lie about the rate. You can change the shutdown action to operate on per-percentage rather than per-time by changing the key /apps/gnome-power-manager/use_time_for_policy to false in gconf-editor.

Probably... I've set this. I'll close this for now. I'll reopen if I'm still having problems.

This is still happening, after the gconf change suggested, so I'm reopening this.

I'm having the same problem, but I don't know if it is still a problem after setting the gconf as above. I'll find out today and post later.

I think this might be related to bug #38795. Does everyone that has a problem with this also have a problem with the time remaining not being reported? I do.

Apparently this is still happening for me even after the gconf edit suggested above. I'm also not getting any warning messages at all before the battery dies. I'm running dapper on a Turion 64 (generic x86_64).

Kenneth, can you attach logfile.txt after your computer has discharged from about 20 percent to turning itself off please. Thanks.

killall gnome-power-manager
gnome-power-manager --verbose --no-daemon > logfile.txt

For the record, I'm running Edgy and this is no longer a problem for me.
