Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

8.2 - The caution/warning section
"You still use a small amount of battery power whilst suspended, so is not recommended for the low power action. If you remove AC power on a desktop, or run out of battery power on a laptop then you will lose your work."

Should be:
...so is not recommended for the low or critical power actions. ...

Reasoning: I shouldn't use it for low, but I can for critical? Clarity.

8.6 - Title
"Why does not my IBM laptop have the brightness sliders in Power Preferences?"

Should be:
Why doesn't Power Preferences show the brightness sliders for my IBM laptop?

Reasoning: The laptop doesn't "have" possession of the slider, power prefs does. Furthermore, "why does not <noun>" is not correct grammar, it is "why does <noun> not"; however, when using it as a contraction it is usually accepted, as in my correction.

Would also need changed in the index, at the top.

Thanks for your report.

Attached is the patch for the first fix.

The newest version of the GPM manual does not discuss IBM laptop sliders or contain the phrase the bug describes in 8.6.

I'll send them upstream later today.

Changed in gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu):
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Low
