Bug Description

If you close the laptop lid while the laptop is on AC power - and then remove the AC power, it doesn't suspend the machine - this is vital as a common situation is where someone has it on the desk, closes the lid, removes the power cord and packs the computer up - it should be suspended in this situation.

This problem re-appeared for me in Karmic. Could this be the same bug?
So when I close my laptop lid, and remove AC power, the computer does not go to suspend. After opening, the computer displays a battery icon, indicating that it know is runs on battery power.

When the lid is open, and I remove first the AC power, the laptop suspends when the lid is closed, as it should.
