Bug Description

by adding the brightness control to the top panel, when trying to adjust the brightness the sliding bar doesn't move, and then the whole machine hangs. hard reset has been necessary. normal keyboard controlled brightness works fine (function +home or function+end) using gnome 2.24.1 and ubuntu 8.10

I'm moving this report to gnome panel, since it seems that brightness control system works when using normal keyboard controls.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 9.04? Thanks in advance.
