gnome-power-preferences crashes on toshiba a100

Bug Description

The gnome-power-preferences program crashes (SEGV) on my toshiba a100 running dapper as installed in the evening (UTC) of 2006-02-06

It turns out that around line 530 of gpm-hal.c a strcmp occurs with a value which can sometimes be NULL

Making sure the if() checks for NULLness before doing the strcmp prevents the crash but is perhaps not the most correct fix possible.

It no longer crashes. 0.3.4-0ubuntu6 corrected it.
