Bug Description

Using the latest gnome-power-manager in Dapper, hibernate and suspend don't work. The application seems to attempt to do either, and the wireless network interface is turned off for a few seconds, but then the network comes back active, and the laptop never actually suspend or hibernate.

Suspend works properly on this laptop when activated using this Dell fn-esc function key.

I think it will be better to close this bug request and open a new one ...

my system: Dell Latitude 110l

This Dell laptop comes with a series of special keys to do all sort of function, and one of them is to put the laptop into suspend mode. When I do it that way, the laptop suspend properly. So the laptop can suspend, but not when using the suspend option in gnome-power-manager.

Can you confirm that your laptop is definitely using acpi rather than apm? Also, does the dell fn+esc come through as an acpi event, or does the laptop's hardware deal with it some other way?

It now works when I select suspend or hibernate from the applet menu. One of the gnome-power-manager update in the last 2 weeks must have solved it.
