Bug Description

i had the problem that g-p-m didn't start (#5982). this seemed to be fixed with today's upgrade. but now when i start g-p-m my laptop hibernates immediately (i had to remove g-p-m manually from my gnome session file, because when i killed g-p-m, it hibernated again). how could i possibly provide more information on this one? (laptop: fsc amilo m1437g)

Same problem here on my Presario 700 laptop, but it shuts down (instead of hibernate).

I never tried the Power Manager before, so I can't tell when it started to be like this.

There is nothing special in /var/log/acpid. /var/log/messages got this: Feb 5 22:04:03 localhost shutdown[11739]: shutting down for system halt

Just to be more precise, the laptop shuts down when I go to System->Preferences->Power Management. That is, gnome-power-preferences is started. I suspect the problem is that the gnome-power-manager itself is not running.

I made a fake /sbin/shutdown to investigate. But now I am not able to reproduce. The preference panel starts gnome-power-manager automatically and everything seems fine.

I am running on AC power, without battery. Could it be that "shutdown when critical battery level" wrongly kicked in?

Version 0.3.4-0ubuntu6 includes a "Do not do critical battery action when on AC power" option

Would you please upgrade and try again?
