Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Xubuntu 8.04 Hardy
gnome-power-manager: 2.22.1-1ubuntu4
xfce4: 4.4.2

In Xubuntu, gnome-power-manager is automatically started by default.
Although I can configure it by typing
 $ gnome-power-preferences
in Terminal, the corresponding launcher icon is missing in the application menu.

I suspect this is because /usr/share/applications/gnome-power-preferences.desktop contains
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;

I wish the line was OnlyShowIn=GNOME;XFCE; or something so that the launcher would appear in the menu.

Thanks for the bug report, Toshio. Unless the power management icon was not displayed for a particular reason, I can confirm this bug. Changing, "OnlyShowIn=GNOME;" to "OnlyShowIn=GNOME;XFCE;" and then regenerating the menu does allow the power management application to show under Applications > Settings > Power Management.

Changed in gnome-power-manager:
status: New → Confirmed

Also do I have to do

"OnlyShowIn=GNOME;XFCE;"

Couldn't it be just

OnlyShowIn=GNOME;XFCE;

Hi Ted, I think that the information for the .desktop file just needs to be updated to include XFCE. It should be a pretty simple fix. Would it be possible to update this? Thanks.

It's a problem with more gnome packages; for instance in gnome desktop utilities, the utilities don't show up in the applications menu when you're running xfce4 (e.g. in XUbuntu). Can the fix be ported to the other Gnome packages as well?

Still not done.
Still Xubuntu Power Management is not in Settings menu. Only accesible from setting manager.
This is easy to fix.
Can somebody tell me how could i fix it? i would like to start learning to make bug fixes

The desktop file already contains "OnlyShowIn=GNOME;XFCE;"
