Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I set my power profile to Conservative both on a SUID gnome-applet and gconf-editor
but recently it started losing it setting and defaulting to Ondemand.

on gconf-editor i get a "This key as no schema" for /apps/gnome-power-manager/cpufreq/policy_ac

gnome-power-manager ver:2.23.1-0ubuntu1
gconf-editor ver: 2.22.0-1ubuntu1
gnome-applets ver:2.23.3-0ubuntu1

That's because these keys have been deprecated upstream by the looks of things. I've just checked the source and they are no longer used.

Right, this is actually a design decision upstream to remove all of the cpufreq code from g-p-m (see http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/gnome-power-manager?view=revision&revision=2788). The justification for this is here: http://www.advogato.org/person/mjg59/diary.html?start=123
