Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Hi.

In gnome-power-manager, we have an "Display Brightness" applet that is supposed to control the display brightness of LCDs of laptops.

I used to use a pure Debian system with my Armada V300 and I decided to install Ubuntu 7.10 on it a few months ago. Unfortunately, the brigthness applet doesn't work with this notebook and I have been using the program attached as a way to control (via software) the brightness of the LCD.

Please, consider integrating the logic of this on the "Display Brightness" applet so that it can work with an even wider range of computers. BTW, this program was taken from <http://www.familiesteiner.de/linux/>.

Thank you very much, Rogério Brito.
