Bug Description
I've just installed Ubuntu 7.10 on a Fujitsu Lifebook P1610. The screen backlight fades to black (over about a second) when I:
Plug in the A/C power
Unplug the A/C power
Open the "Power Management" preferences dialog
Touch the "Set Display Brightness" slider in any way (without necessarily adjusting it, just clicking) in either the A/C power tab or the battery power tab
Randomly (sometimes when I'm idle, sometimes while I'm using the mouse).
When I close and reopen the laptop's lid (the relevant checkbox is marked "do nothing")
Each time it does this, I have to tap the "brightness up" button 20 times, which is a bit tedious.
I have all the sliders set to "do not ever dim the display" and have tried setting the two dimming sliders to both 100% and 0% -- neither seems to alter this behavior.
It only happens when I'm using Gnome. It does not happen in Ion3. Note: when doing the random dimming, the "power history" shows that it entered "session powersave".
Clarification: the fade happens when I do *any* of the items on the list (Plug in the A/C power, Unplug the A/C power, etc) -- it's not a procedure.
