After installing yesterday's Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 daily image, I had a power indicator, but somewhere between completing the installation and now, I've lost it. I have installed a few other applications, but nothing I would expect to interfere. All extensions have been disabled. No change whether I'm on battery on AC power.
I do still receive low power notifications through the notifications subsystem.

Same deal here. Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 64 bit. No power indicator on Toshiba Z835 ultrabook.
For what it's worth, a friend of mine with a Lenovo (unsure of exact model offhand) installed the exact same OS (Ubuntu GNOME 13.04) and experienced the missing power indicator as well.
