regression: powerbutton doesn't perform action

Sorry, but this bug is not dead. At least for my machine (non-laptop amd xp). I updated recently from edgy to feisty and since then the power button doesn't halt my machine anymore.
I do get the buttonpress spat onto the screen when I run this:
me@machine: killall gnome-power-manager
me@machine: gnome-power-manager --no-daemon --verbose
and press the powerbutton. (as suggested in 57872)
