Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

Hi there,

I have a P3-800 with 256mb of ram.

Here is the problem I'm having:

I turn my computer on, and load the Ubuntu CD. When the GUI comes up I get this message pop up:

Suspend Problem
Your computer failed to suspend.
Check the help file for common problems.

I wasn't trying to put the system into suspend mode, I was just attempting to load the CD for the first time.

This message does not just come up one and go away but it continues opening the same message over and over and over again, until it uses up all the system resources and crashes the machine. During the time that this message comes up, I don't have time to type any commands or run anything on the system. I haven't even got the chance to install it yet, this is just trying to run the live version at the start.

Thanks,
Mike

Oddly enough it was a hardware issue involving my motherboard. I tried to
install windows with the same problem. Some odd error caused the system to
go into hibernate over and over again. Amazingly you could still operate
within Ubuntu if you can get past the annoying error messages, you can't fix
the issue in Windows (but I'm sure that doesn't surprise you)
