Kubuntu battery monitor displays wrong icon

Bug Description
After a few suspend / resume cycles the battery icon indicator for battery monitor displays the wrong icon. In my case, it indicates that the laptop is plugged in. However on mouse over of the icon it correctly indicates that AC power is not present and the battery is not plugged in or charging.
