Same problem, with Palm Z22. Fresh install of 8.10 with visor added to /etc/modules. Connected via USB, initial sync never detects Palm. Tried all devices (though only /dev/pilot should be needed). Device works on identical hardware running 8.04.

Same issue with LiveCD.
1. Terminal: sudo modprobe visor
2. Connect Palm Z22
3. PalmOS Devices (Sys > Preferences)
4. USB (all others default)
5. Yes or No (doesn't matter), Next
6. Hit Hotsync button on Palm
7. ...Nothing happens

Followed same procedure on other computer (the one currently running 8.04 that syncs just fine), with same results.

Definitely a problem in 8.10; the procedure described above works perfectly on the same computer with 8.04 LiveCD.

Started from scratch with a fresh install of 8.04 with two different PDAs syncing perfectly. Then updated system through update manager distribution upgrade to 8.10. Now neither PDA will sync

Same problem with a Palm Centro. I have a bit more info: I can see the Palm in lsusb, but I can't see what device file it's on. Looking in /dev, I don't have any pilot or ttyUSB* devices.
