gnome-panel crashes when clock preference is set to 'internet time'

Binary package hint: gnome-panel ; fiesty fawn herd4
Any user new or old
step to reproduce:
1) right click on main panel clock display.
2) go to preference
3) select display format to "internet time"
4) panel crashes and disappears.
The problem resolves when .gconf/

New user (default) gnome panel completely disappears; however, in my old user account(modified gnome panel content and a starter), the gray band/stripe of the panel remain, but it is inactive and in background.

I would appreciate if I can get a personal help on howto reset the panel clock preference.
As a suggestion, I think user would appreciate an option to resort to last working session configuration very much. or some way to undo last change.
In general, I am overall impressed with ubuntu after being long time user of RedHat/fedora. Fiesty-Fawn herd4 was my entry point to Ubuntu.

To reset the preference run gconf-editor and search for key with "internet" to their value and reset the panel you listed
