Thanks for your bug report. The crash looks like a memory corruption. Could you try to get a valgrind log for it? (you can follow the instructions from https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/Valgrind for that)
When did you do your previous update? For how long was the panel running? The GTK package has been updated to fix a crasher when packages are upgraded, it would be interesting to know if you panel has been restarted with the new version installed
