Bug Description

After upgrading to oneiric, I cannot get any desktop option that works as usual.

The closest thing to a usual ubuntu desktop is the gnome classic option, but even that has problems: All manually set launchers are gone, all appearance settings are ignored, and even from the standard menus (Applications-Places-System) the System menu is missing, there's not even access to the most important Preferences or Administration tools.

The reason might be that the "gnome classic" session is not "classic" at all, but based on gnome 3.0, which seems to put some of these system settings to other places in the menu.

However, calling this "gnome classic" is absolutely misleading, since it is quite new and different.

So this should definitely be renamed into "gnome 3.0"

"Gnome 3 Fallback" would be more accurate. There is no longer a system menu. Many of the launchers that used to be in System are now in Applications->Other which took me a while to find.
