Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-menus

Hi,

This might be not be in the right place...

The gnome-menus ( i.e. Application, Places and Systems) get updated with a link to the new software, after I have installed some software using the package manager. The link is created okay but the menus take time to return adjust to the new item. Before adjusting correctly, they always have a scroll button at the top and bottom. Once I have opened each sub menu at least once then they go back to normal.

I am using edgy, on an AMD64 laptop. The only weird thing that I have done is rearrange the menu bar so that it is at the bottom of the screen like KDE / Windows and this could be the cause of the problem.

Let me know if you need anymore information,

Thanks,

James

Thank you for your bug. The description is not clear. Is the problem that you get scroll button when opening it or that the refresh is slow or something else? That might be a duplicate from bug #30146?

I have the same problem as described above.
To explain it in a clearer way:
With menu bar at the bottom of the screen, the gnome-menu (either Application or Places or Systems) shows up from time to time, after new software install, with some scroll buttons because it is shortened.

Then all the items from gnome-menu have the same behavior.
It happens the first the menu is displayed, the other times are OK.
It doesn't happen with menu bar at the top, like in the default scheme.

I think it is a duplicate of bug #30146 (the screen shot explains well the issue).
