Since the second restart after the installation of edgy, gnome-panel causes 100% cpu usage.

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 8100 Laptop, Pentium III m with 933 mhz and 256 mb of Ram.

Thanks for your bug. Is your "Applications" menu flickering?

The menu does not flicker. Strace shows the process in a quick loop running stat() on files and doing poll() calls with short timeouts. I'll attach a bit of strace output just in case that helps.

Another "me too". CPU usage goes up into the 90%s after opening the Applications menu for the first time (I'm not using the menu applet, only Alt+F1). Applications menu flickers.
