Same problem here, constant poll on fd=3 connected to unknown socket:

strace:

gnome-pan 3376 user 3u unix 0xef08b000 0t0 12525 socket

netstat:

unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 12525

It stops after 1 to 3 minutes and returns to normal.

I resolved it by removing gnome at all, use xfce it has no javascript

Just to make it clear - invalid in this case means obsolete... Panel these days use GTK3 not GTK2, panel does not use libbonobo that I see in your attached files.
