Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

My panel hight is 32 pixel.

Before Ubuntu 09.10 everthing was fine, the notification applet icons used 24px Icons and Quick-Start-Icons were 32px high.

Now, the notification applet icons are 32px (Pidgen, Banshee, Parcellite) high.

If I reduce the panel height to 30 Pixel the notification applet icons go down to 24px, but also the other icons.

I think it should be like bevor 09.10:
notification applet: 24px
other: 32px

no problem, here is a screenshot:

Firefox to Home are my Quick Start Icons. The other are the notification applets icons.

It should be easy to reproduce if you increase the panel hight to 32 pixel.

Here an older Screenshot from Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 how it was before 09.10

that really depends on the icon theme you're using if they have scalable icons or not, for example you don't get that behavior for network manager using the gnome icons theme, could you test with afew themes and comment back? thanks.

it happens whith every icon theme which i have installed:

Gnome
High Contrast Inverse
Human
Humanity
Humanity-Dark
Tangerine

I noticed that Pidgen has no SVG Icons, but PNGs in every size:
/usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray/16
/usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray/22
/usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray/32
/usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray/48

but even this should be intended, it looks really awefull.

I checked the Pidgen Icons on the old 09.04 Ubuntu of my parents.
It's the same like on 09.10, whiches proofes this bug does not depends the Icons... It must be the notification applet!

May I change this bug to confirmed, now? ;)

with the latest Ubuntu Update ( I think that I read some package with gtk in it's name ) the Banshee Icon is now OK. But only if the Banshee is started on startup automaticly. If I exit Banshee and start it manuel the icon is again too big.

If I restart the computer the Icons has the right (small) size,

This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME . Thanks in advance!
