Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Only sometimes, after a suspending/resuming cycle, panel is unresponsive, missing icons, windows list won't respond to mouse clicks, application menu is gone, but the remaining icons (2 or 3 applets) do respond.
Ctrl-alt-F1 to get a terminal, and killing gnome-panel.
export DISPLAY=:0
gnome-panel to restart it.
error: unable to register panel in gnome shell (something similar to that, sorry, havn't written down the actual error)

so last resort
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
or
if the logout icon is still working, just close session.

I guess it might be a child process that might be hanging the parent app, but have no ide a of how to get child procs info.

the error seems also to indicate that you use gnome-shell there?

I too am seeing this issue on 9.10, 64-bit.

@Sebastien,
What program are you requesting the backtrace for? AFAIK, no application is actually crashing. It's just that many of the items on the gnome-panel are missing and the panel itself is unresponsive. Killing the panel and restarting it does not return the missing icons. However, logging out and back in does, but this defeats the purpose of suspending.
