Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I'm testing Karmic, and I've noticed that the Gnome panel will auto hide itself, but with Compiz running, it won't come back. If Compiz is not running, it works fine.

Changed in gnome-panel (Ubuntu):

Came on to post this bug as well, it was almost impossible to coax the panel back out again, finally got a response with ALT + F1 since the menu was on the panel. Didn't test w/o compiz.

I think i came a cross the same bug.

Panel on left or right edge doesn't unhide on mouseover if compiz is running.
It does unhide if auto_hide_size is greater than 2 and mouse is positioned somewhere between one pixel and auto_hide_size -1 from the edge.

Unhide works on top/bottom panels.

Maybe it's a compiz bug, and mouse position isn't forwarded to the panel?

gnome-panel version 2.2.32
Ubuntu 11.04, gnome2 session with compiz 0.9.4+bzr20110415-0ubuntu2

Little addition.
Bug only occurs if compiz desktop cube is active. Works fine with desktop wall .
Might be related to how cube handles edge-flipping.

This is still a problem in Ubuntu 12.10. Work-around of turning of desktop cube still functions.
