Bug Description

Today I upgrade to karmic. Whenever I want to switch from one application to another I can't do it and need to minimize the windows all the time. For example. I have dolphin, konsole, firefox and kopete open. Currently, I am in a firefox and if I want to use konsole I have to minimize this firefox window.

I make clicks in the applications running in the panel, but nothing happens.

Yes, this bug is also present in Lucid.
The orientation of the panel is "right", when it is "bottom" there is no problem.

I've to understand
because this bug is not reproducible on my pc.
-Your lucid is un update of the first jaunty or is a fresh install?
-When you click the button it don't make any action or the recalled window is under the already opened one? (so when you minimize can see the hidden window without made any actions)
Thanks
Fabio

My lucid is an update of koala which was an update of jaunty. Don't know
what you mean with "first jaunty"

When I click the button, nothing happens. So, also no window appears
under the current one. Actually, something happens: when I press the
icon it flashes and the panel icons either become smaller (two icons
paired next to each other instead of all icons below each other) or they
collapse into a group.

I've tried this on a fresh installed Lucid and I can reproduce it.
It looks like this happens only when:
* Panel orientation right
* Icons size 105 pixels
* Theme: Human-Clearlooks (happens more often than with Ambiance theme)
* 10 or more windows, especially of same type

It seems that the problem is that when you press an icon, somehow Ubuntu
finds it necessary to change the icon view. He can do: heigten the
icons, shorten the icons, group the icons, pair them next to each other.
In cases with just a few windows the icon view is not changed and then
there is no problem clicking an icon.

I confirm that the bug, is present in all themes, in right and left position, with enlarged icons.
When bug start we can see icons on the panel jerking and wnck-applet & xorg > 60% cpu usage.
