Bug Description

I explained the bug in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=576764 but it is not upstream.

The looking of the icon application-default-icon.png.uue is terrible, because all icons use tango style and the fallback icon use the style of GNOME 2.0.

I have an icon I made few months ago if you wish which is waaaaaaay more prettier :).

could you look if there is any standard icon which would work nicely there?

Changed in gnome-panel (Ubuntu):
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Confirmed

Why doesn't the panel just not show an icon for things that don't have icons? If it's because the menu item's height is then different from the rest, how about making the icon be an empty PNG or SVG that's just total alpha?

there was a bug request to add an icon in such cases ages ago but that's probably something we don't really need there

A quick fix could be to replace with my pixmap for this release, as we don't divert from what we had until now and we can think to another solutions for next cycle?

there is no application without icon the default installation and nobody complained about the current icon until now so I think it's really a detail
