clock draws badly on vertical panel

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

I have a vertical panel on a Jaunty machine, holding a gnome clock.

If I choose to show the weather, I get only a weather icon and no clock. (See attached.) If I turn off the weather display, I can see the clock but it's misaligned in the panel. This is a regression from Intrepid.
