Bug Description

In the case where I connect extra USB thumbrives, the Places menu gets over cluttered and my mounted drives are all moved into a submenu "Removable Drives" which includes my hard drive partitions and my thumbrives mount points.
This is clearly a misclassification. There should be two submenus, one for the Removable Media and one for Non-Removable Media or whatever it's called.

Thank you for your bug report, could you run gvfs-mount -li and attach the log to the bug?

Could it be renamed to something else other than "Removable Media" then? something like "Storage Media" for example..

This is a usability bug. Somebody looking for their hard drive in "places" will not be inclined to search a "removable media" folder. I can confirm this behaviour and I think it should be forwarded upstream and/or fixed in Ubuntu by renaming the subgroup to "Storage Media" or similar.

Same prob, isn't the drives and removable media already seperated IN the Jaunty beta?

I have a further issue with this since I upgraded from jaunty to karmic.

I now see my zfs zpool component partitions in this list. This makes no sense.

Paritions that are part of md & lvm volumes aren't presented, neither should zpool components.

If I click on a zfs partition then it tries to mount it, which seems potentially dangerous if the desktop actually knew how to deal with it.

Further, my Removable devices list has now gone from a managable half dozen entries to an unmanageble over 40 (which now scrolls off the screen), and will grow as I expand the zpools with more partitions when I need the space.

If the system doesn't understand the underlying file system type, it should not be in the menu.
