Systray icon not shown on 2nd screen in TwinView mode

Bug Description

I'm running a TwinView setup: 2 screens, 2 separate desktops, one on each screen with its own task bar, menu, etc.
When I'm starting an application like skype, amarok or pidgin which reside as sys tray icon only, the icon is shown on the screen 1 sys tray when started on screen 1 but nowhere when started on screen 2.
The only sys tray icon shown on both screens is the volume control.
Since no one seems to know this problem (I posted it on ubuntuforums.org and ubuntuusers.de) and it requires to kill those applications from the console, I think this is a bug.

System: Ubuntu 8.10 incl. backport repository
Gnome: 2.24.1
Nvidia: 177.80
