Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

The standard Ubuntu top panel has a couple of predefined launchers just after the "System" menu, they are supposed to be the application the user uses most. It's a good idea, why not make it better?
I would like to see an applet that shows a launcher button for the N (user configurable number) most used application by the user.
I keep adding and removing stuff from my top panel while I discover new apps or the things I work on changes, what I would like is an applet that does this for me.
Of course the algorithm to determine the top N apps should be smart, weighting the number of times I used something with how recently I used it (just the "most used app this week/month" should work).
if I used firefox for one year but then switched to epiphany I do not want firefox to be on the top of the list for another year.

Cheers,

Emme
