Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

When using extended desktop the application disapears in the taskbar when dragging the application to the extended monitor. The only way to access it is to hit alt-tab.

Expected:
Application should stay in taskbar.

Laptop model: HP Pavilion dv5
Extended Monitor: 19 inch JW199A HANNS-G

Not sure which graphics driver is in use. I have the nVidia accelerated graphics, but it is not activated.

Ubuntu 8.10 - the Intrepid Ibex - released in October 2008

sounds more like an application bug than driver.

I noticed that this kept happening when I was moving my laptop back and forth between work and home. At home, i don't use extented desktop, but I do at work. I guess when I boot the machine at home it saves some settings, and when I return to work and connect my extended monitor, the applications are visible in the taskbar only when the application window is placed in the 'primary' monitor.

To fix the problem, I log out and then back in again, while the extra monitor is connected. A bit anoying.

Hope this helps.

The problem was not fixed in 9.04. I am running the latest update. I have an extended desktop with the extension on top of my primary (laptop) screen. I have a taskbar at the bottom of the pair which shows icons of windows. Windows only show up on the taskbar if they are more than 50% in the bottom part (screen) of my extended display.

I just ran into the same problem after adding a displaylink device (EVGA UV+).

Previous configuration:
9.04
Ati card with 2 monitors running an extended desktop. Moving a window to the right monitor did not make it disappear from the taskbar on the left monitor.

setup: xrandr --output CRT1 --auto --right-of DFP1

Now i tried adding a 3rd independent screen using the USB converter, and while everything else works fine i suddenly have the same problem: moving a window from the left to the right monitor makes it disappear in the taskbar.
