Bug Description

On the bottom of the System menu, the "log out" and "shut down" links are inefficient : when the dialog pop-up is displayed, and the option clicked (for example "restart") the window freezes, and the system is waiting for nothing.

If I click on the cross, to close the pop-up, Gnome suggests to kill the application.

I have to crash my system...

Happens to me too, dapper drake uptodate.
when exiting some windows pieces of them remain stick to desktop, the bottom bar usually remain "ghost" a few cm up than the working one, there is no way to delete them they just remain on the wallpaper till shutdown.
Logout, shutdown, reboot are not working, the window just freezes and stays there forever.

Thanks for your bug. Do the actions work when using the session dialog from the applet on the panel? Does it work if you wait 2 minutes by example?

The shut dow dialog is a new one : without images, and only four buttons (the others are in the log out dialog).

I have added new applets on my gnome panel :
shut down dialog is the same, and also the same bug.

i found out that freeze is more likely to happen when logging out, when shutdown and reboot i get a gnome crash notice and it does usually work.

@ agostin...

First, for the desktop, it's an other bug. Different of that one.

The fix disclaimed in the last message works : i tried it.

Second, i have got a similar problem with the d3a theme ont the pop-up, not the desktop, which is still fixed.

So, don't mix the bugs. Only one report per bug. That's all i want, and it's a universal bug reporter rule...

@ Sebastien

I tried the log out applet on my gnome panel : it shows the pop-up with image, which crashes too, but effectively restart (if i clicked 'restart'), as agostin...

rejecting the Ubuntu task, the gnome-panel one is enough

Yes but the official link at the bottom of the System menu is bugged.

Just make the old dialog window with image back against the new one without image which doen't work if you would rather that, but do something else than reject the report.

The bottom of the system menu is not a hidden option used by no one. It has to be fixed, not rejected.

Jib, your bug report hasn't been rejected : only the "Ubuntu" task has. The gnome-panel one is enough, as said by Sébastien.

The menu Logout action is likely going to link to the dialog with 6 buttons and images in dapper.
