custom icons in desktop aren't used anywhere else

Ubuntu Desktop Bugs

Bug Description

In gnome I can use customized icons for some desktop icons, for example the
computer icon. But other references to this
(for example the computer link in places) doesn't use this icon.

I think this is a bug since it should be consisten. This doesn't happen just
with the panel but also in nautilus' windows since they don't show custom icons.
This happens with all desktop icons customized.

To customize an icon you must right click in the icon you want to change &
select properties. Then select a custom icon, the desktop icon will change but
nowhere else.

Thanks for your comments. From which to which icon theme are you switching?
Which version of Ubuntu do you use? Did you check that the themes in question do
have customized icons for the examples you referred to?

I'm using a custom icon theme. it's this one:
This icon theme brings as the default desktop pc icon a TFT, but
in the Xtras folder it brings another icon which represents a laptop.
The icon I changes was the pc icon from the TFT one to the laptop one.
It really doesn't matter which icon you are using, since to check this I changed
my home folder icon in the desktop from the one this icon theme brings to another
gnome brings to represent bluetooh (the icons is the "B" logo) and this still
happened.

I've tried this with gnome's default icon theme & it happens, so that's
not the problem. I'll post a screenshot to clarify

If you look closely you can see that I've set some
custom icons to "equipo" (computer) & "inicio" (my home folder)
in the desktop, but both the panel & nautilus still show the
default gnome's one.

another screenshot of the bug with different icon set

this is another example with this icon set:
http://art.gnome.org/themes/icon/1100 (I forgot to write it before in the other
post, sorry)

As you can see I have the laptop icon on the desktop & nautilus shows the TFT
one.
This icon set is completely SVG, so all icons are scaled from the same source
(i.e. there are no icons for different resolutions)
