Bug Description

An error occured
The following details are provided.
E: dpkg -- was interrupted. You must manually run
'dpkg --configure -a' to to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report

I receive the above mesage when attempting to install updates to UBUNTU 7.10

This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker.

From the error message that it presented, you should try to run "sudo dpkg --configure -a" in the terminal to rectify your problem.

If that doesn't work, please reply with what the output of that command is.
