Bug Description
In /etc/passwd I had a line starting with "taco:x:1000:1000:" while gid 1000
wasn't specified in /etc/group. Because of this, files in my homedir had gid
1000 which couldn't be translated to a name. I'm not sure how long I had this
configuration, but the newest gnome-panel from breezy (newest as of today,
august 21st) crashes on it with the following error:
id: cannot find name for group ID 1000
With the same situation I was able to run programs like Nautilus,
gnome-terminal, epiphany etc. Changing the line in /etc/passwd to
"taco:x:1000:100" (etc) and chgrp'ing files to the new group (users) solved the
problem.

Thanks for your bug. That's rather a misconfiguration than a software bug.
Probably due to the gnome-menus patch, Ccing Emmanuel who works on this.
