Bug Description

I'm using Feisty with all updates as of 01-07-2007, and icons in Gnome tray sometimes disappear - the place is taken, but the space is empty. It doesn't matter what's the program - network manager, gajim, skype, openoffice, power manager...

Thank you for your bug. What theme do you use? Do you have any error to .xsession-errors when that's happening?

Gray theme is in universe.
I'll try to test it with other themes.

It happened again, but .xsessions-errors is empty.

Does it happen using the Ubuntu theme?

Ok, I tested it with other themes: human, ashes, oransun, and others - so it's probably gnome-panel bug.
Different icons dissappear, not all, mostly single ones, or 2.
Ie. opera's, gajim's, ooquicklaunch, network-manager...
BTW: I'm returning my laptop from sleep frequently - I don't know if it has to do anything with it.
I can attach my .xsession-errors but it doesn't include anything useful IMO. I have GTK-dbg installed.

Personally I'd like to see a screenshot as well.

Do you have desktop effects/compiz enabled?

Only gajim seems to be missing, network-manager is displayed correctly for example, likely to be a gajim bug then

Now you can see a missing power manager icon.

Now, the OpenOffice quick launcher icon is missing.
I've noticed that these icons dissappear after I unlock the gnome screen after suspend or screensaver.

Steps to reproduce this bug:
1) Open some applications which have tray icons.
2) Lock the Gnome screen
3) Unlock it.
4) Voila - at least one icon will be "invisible", no matter what theme you use.

Unconfirming, might be due to a local configuration since other users don't have the bug
