Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Using Ubuntu 7.04. With Desktop Effects selected

The problem I get is similar to:

50933. But the only icon that disappear is the GL Desktop. When it disappear it is deselected in the System/Preferences/GL Desktop configuration. When the option is checked off, the icon shows in the GNOME Panel.

109239. But I do not change resolutions. It happens when I close an application , like Thunderbird, I see the icons in the panel have different place. I did not detect this behavior until I started using Ubuntu Studio a few days ago. It did not happen when I upgraded to Ubuntu 7.04.

Other observation: The icons on the left (I have: GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus, Blender, Terminal, MySql Administrator, Tomboy, Amarok) of the Applications pull down menu, have not changed place at all. Only the icons to the right of System pull down menu have changed places or disappeared (GL Desktop.)

Thank you for your bug. Rather than describe what the bug is not could you explain what is happening? Could you attach a screenshot showing the change?

Adding some more info, mine was closed as a duplicate and didnt realise you needed more.

The problem i am having is that right justified panel applets are rearaning order on login sometimes, the worst two offenders being the clock and notification applets swapping, and the waste bin/workspace switcher swapping. This is without desktop effects enabled, so even though that is mentioned in the first report i dont thing that matter. Also, this only started happening on a gutsy upgrade. On some logins, they are displayed in the correct order, and other times not.

Attached a screen shot of the trash/workspace switcher being the wrong way (by default the trash icon is on the right, with the workspace switcher on the left, in this instance they have swapped for no reason).

Just to be more thorough, i have a desktop running at 3360x1050 on a dual screen twinview setup, with the primary monitor as the right and secondary on the left (the panels show on the primary monitor).
