Thanks for your bug report. Could you try to get a valgrind log for it (you can follow the instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind for that)?

Sorry, probably not as the crash was during a system update and I think
there was a later version of the program loaded. Somewhat of a newb here. I
just did what your email suggested later.

if that happened during an upgrade that's likely a dup of bug #85776
