Bug Description

Binary package hint: ktorrent

I have a dual screen setup with GNOME / Ubuntu Feisty Beta and when running KTorrent on the primary desktop, it correctly puts a status icon in the status bar / notification area, allowing me to recover it if I have minimized it.

If I run KTorrent on the second desktop instead, it 'disappears' if I cilck the X in top right corner: the process continues running, but there is no icon in the notification area and needless to say, this causes problems because you will be unable to access KTorrent if it thinks it is minimized to the tray, and you have to kill the process and start it again to access the application or stop it etc.

Possibly related (but not duplicates) : Bug #101999 (KTorrent pb with task bar) and Bug #87317 (dual screen / GNOME issues)

Same behaviour for Amarok: runs fine on 'primary' desktop, 'disappears' on secondary desktop

How do you have the dual screen setup working? twinview/mergedfb/xinerama etc. This sounds like more of a problem with how Gnome handles windows on multiple monitors than with individual programs like KTorrent or Amarok. Does this only apply to KDE programs, or all programs?

Is this still an issue?

System --> Administration --> Screens and Graphics

I believe this issue is more of a problem with gnome (I'm guessing gnome-panel) than the KDE apps themselves. I've never seen this issue when using KDE and run KTorrent and Amarok very frequently. So I'm closing the amarok and ktorrent tasks and opening one against gnome-panel.
