Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-orca
on starting the desktop with Orca installed you are greeted with:
"Welcome to Orca. Current desktop environment is Unity. Orca Screen Reader slash Magnifier Frame. Preferences Button"
which is confusing, because I thought I put in an Ubuntu CD.
I would like it to greet me with something like:
"Welcome to Ubuntu. This is the Orca screen reader tool. Press Space for a tutorial on Orca or press Enter to start using Ubuntu"
To post a comment you must log in.
I have often thought about whether this should be changed, but I am not sure whether "Welcome to Ubuntu" is the best thing to say. I propose that this get discussed on the Ubuntu Accessibility mailing list.
I also think its probably too late in this cycle to make this big change, as it will break a lot of translations, most of which are carried out upstream.
Marking wishlist for now so its on the radar.
