Bug Description

I am online, and launch empathy.

Chat accounts using gnome online accounts resolutely remain offline, suggesting that I go online to see personal information.

I change my status to "offline" then back to "online", when they then do connect.

I have a similar issue, sometimes (most of them) when I log in gnome3 my accounts configured with "online accounts" stay offline, then I have to switch my status to offline then online again.

Sometimes it's worse, the "online accounts" just vanish from empathy, then I go to the "online accounts" configuration, disable chat then reenable, the "online accounts" then appears again in empathy accounts, so then I can be online.

My workaround was to create the accounts through empathy and disable (not remove, unless thay will appear again) the "online accounts" from there.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in gnome-online-accounts (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

I set up Google as an Online Account, then open Empathy.
If the status under the top right menu (Gnome Shell) is not set to "Available" I get prmpted for my Gmail password.
However despite entering it correctly the account will no connect.
If I change the status to "Available and re-launch Empathy it connects straight away.
