Hi,
I am running on Ubuntu 12.04 and I have two problems
1) phy0 -> rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error - MCU request failed, no response from hardware
I was trying to solve it for almost a year, I googled my a.. off and no solution seems to be working ???
2) [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR* Power management discrepancy: GEN6_RP_INTERRUPT_LIMITS expected 17000000, was 12060000
This one showed up right after the 3.2.0-40-generic upgrade yesterday.

Few things you might need:
My ethernet is working and my wireless is too BUT sometimes the laptop (HP Pavilion g6) wont connect after suspend nor reboot the driver from the keyboard button, sometimes it freezes after waking from suspend so I have to suspend it and wake it again.

BWT, my latest ubuntu 12.04 box is often freeze.(mouse stop, any keys: Ctrl+Alt+F1/Del, NumLock, CapsLock etc are not reponsible)
I tried check hardware:
run "sensors" command , and CPU temperature is ok(~30C) (most time, the freeze occured when CPU load is not high)
check memory, passed.
run disk check, passed
and run some games, e.g: torcs, Never freeze.
It seems that the freeze mostly occurs when opening/saving files. but I can not reproduce it.

At last, I installed the 3.3.6 kernel from:

those error like '*ERROR* Power management discrepancy'
are fixed, and I believe my system will not freeze any more!

( most app do not need those header files, but few need. e.g: virtualbox)

if still not work, please post the output of command:
cat /proc/cpuinfo

even your system is Intel CPU.

excelent! The amd64 seems to be working, I don't have the "drm" error (see here). HOWEVER the rt2800 is still on (see below). As for the freezing of keyboard and touchpad, I couldn't reproduce it voluntarily in the past, and it didn't occur yet.

Hi,

I am aware of the fact that it is a driver issue. I had just no luck with reparing it - I hoped the updates will eventually do but no luck there either :-)

I can access both wireless and wired network with no problem.
The thing that is bothering me is that on boot or wake-up, the wifi takes ages to load (once it connects it's OK) and sometimes it don't (I supend and wake again and it works). This happens more frequently when I am on battery power or when I disconnect a suspended laptop from power and wake it on battery only.

@chenzero Thank you. I found the LTS Hardware Enablement Stack wiki and I installed the Quantal stack that updated me to kernel 3.5.0-27-generic. This resolved the error.

@Robert: I wanted to write the same thing, because this topic is for two errors 1) "rt2800pci" caused by wireless driver 2) "drm" caused by uptading to 3.2.0-40 kernel. You didn't specify which one of these you were talking about.

@chenzero: Thanks for pointing out the 3.3.6 kernel, but this caused my virtualbox to crush on startup.

@Antonios: The biggest thanks goes to you because the solution you suggested not only removed the "drm" error but the "rt2800pci" error as well !!

I am new to launchpad so excuse me if the comment is inappropriate.
with the updated version of ubuntu have the same problem, I mean the error:

The system ralely freeze, no cursor movement and no way to unlock x, the only way is an hard reboot (power off + power on)
I was unable to connect to a specific package and even if the error is the cause of the malfunction.
My question is it is possible to work around this issue 'remaining in the world ubuntu12.04' without trying out other package?

I am having random crashes. Looking in the syslogs attached below.
I had 2 black screen crashes and 1 frozen screen crash.

Which of the many error messages are leading to the crash.
The (a) occurred 6 times.
The (b) notification occurred 1000s times.
I am not sure if (a) and (b) are related bc they both talking about power.

What I am certain is that lately ubuntu 12.04 crashes 2-4 times per day and I do not see
that this is being worked on. I see other ppl seeing this bug.
I would like to call this bug critical.

chenzero: question for you.

I am seeing this error also and my computer crashes. My computer eaither completely crashes or sometimes the desktop freezes.
This error may occur 6 times, but the computer crashed only 3 times. Once this error was the last thing the computer wrote into syslog before it crashed. But interestingly the error does not always lead to crash. For example today I see I have the error 14 times but it did not crash yet.

I would be interested in knowing if the PPA upgrade stopped your crashes (chenzero) after having it for about 10 weeks.

Hello Runner,
yes, I can confirm that the 3.3.6 kernel is very stable on my computer. I never encountered those freeze any more.
just a little problem in the VirtualBox. sometimes, the virtual machine disappeared.
I think it's in the virtualbox kernel modules because when I compile those modules, it showed something warning. nevertherless, because I seldom use virtualbox, so, I don't think it's a problem.

please try the steps in my post #7, and some posts below it. the kernel 3.3.6 is really great and I am currently using:

Hi ksenija,
building kernel from source code is a experienced skill, there are some pre compiled kernel image on :
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
usually, double clicking the DEB file in the nautils will install the kernel.

to see which kernel you have, run following command in a Terminal:
uname -a

to see error report
dmesg | grep -i error ( "grep -i error " will filter for errors)

I am suffering from this bug, too.
I read at several places in the net that updating to a newer kernel would help, as you mentioned.
I don't want to update the kernel, as long as there is no official update for virtualbox.

But even in 12.04.3 there is no update for virtualbox. Also the kernel is not an LTS kernel.
My wish would be, that there is an option in "Update Manager" that the kernel is updated and that in LTS versions Virtualbox is updated in the repository if a new kernel is available.

I apologize for this question, but I see that a fix has been released, how do I go about downloading and installing it? This just started happening (or happening with a much longer impact on boot time) after the most recent set of system updates (this week).
